This programme is delivered over three semesters with a minimum of six hours of instruction per week, combining classroom learning with hands-on practical training. Students will complete a series of core modules designed to introduce the fundamentals of the plumbing trade, including safety practices, plumbing tools, trade mathematics, and interpreting plumbing drawings. The course also provides practical instruction in working with common plumbing materials such as plastic, copper, cast-iron, and steel pipes and fittings. Some modules may require additional instructional time to ensure students gain the practical skills and knowledge required for plumbing installation and maintenance.
Covers workplace hazards, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safety procedures used in plumbing work, including confined-space safety and safe use of hand and power tools.
Teaches students how to read and interpret plumbing drawings and symbols used in construction plans when laying out and installing plumbing systems.
