This course is designed to develop the knowledge, work ethic, safety awareness, and technical skills required to work efficiently on HVAC job sites as an apprentice. Students will gain practical experience in installing, testing, and replacing basic HVAC electrical components used in domestic systems.
Training covers a range of HVAC applications, including fixture and appliance installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC components, as well as air distribution systems and ductwork.

This programme is delivered over three semesters with a minimum of six hours of instruction per week, combining classroom learning with hands-on practical training. Students are introduced to a range of core modules designed to build foundational knowledge and technical skills in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Topics covered include HVAC principles, trade mathematics, basic electricity, heating and cooling systems, air distribution, piping practices, and installation techniques. Some modules may require additional instructional time to ensure students gain sufficient practical experience and a strong understanding of key HVAC concepts and procedures.
Introduces the basic principles of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including safety practices, career pathways, and industry standards.
Covers electrical fundamentals used in HVAC systems, including AC and DC circuits, electrical components, and reading wiring diagrams.
Explains the fundamentals of heating systems and combustion processes, including installation and servicing of gas furnaces.
Introduces the refrigeration cycle, refrigerants, heat transfer principles, and the components used in HVAC cooling systems.
Focuses on airflow principles, system design, and the equipment and materials used in HVAC air distribution systems.
This program focuses on the practical skills and knowledge required to install, service and maintain refrigeration and air-conditioning systems. Upon successful completion of this qualification, the learners will be well equipped to start or progress their career in the Refrigeration & Air-conditioning Industry.
The program is ideal for anyone currently working or wishing to work in the installation and maintenance of refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump systems.
